Now is the Time to Holiday in Grenada

We have just added a fantastic range of hotels in Grenada which we predict will become one of the Caribbean’s most sought after destination in the next few years, hence our claim that now is the time to holiday in Grenada - before everybody else finds out!

Grenada has been recovering since 2004 when the devastating hurricane Ivan went off the normal course of Caribbean hurricanes (Grenada is generally thought to be South of the normal hurricane path) and hit the small island with devastating effects. 28 people lost their lives and as well as the human loss the island’s spice trade took a severe hammering with the nutmeg crops destroyed in the 8 hour carnage. To replace the nutmeg orchards takes 8 years from the sapling to reach full maturity and provide crops again, meaning the island has had to look at other methods of bringing in much-needed foreign income, resulting in a new focus on Grenada’s tourism industry. Step up Peter de Savary, who has invested massive amounts of finance to develop Grenada as a tourist destination to rival places like Barbados, St. Tropez and their ilk whilst still retaining the traditional charm that Grenada and it’s people exude.

De Savary, the owner of Skibo Castle where Madonna was married to Guy Ritchie (and many other celebrities took their vows), intends to sink £300m of his personal wealth into 4 schemes on the island including a marina in Port Louis the former industrial port of St George’s, a spa at Tufton Hall, apartments at Mount Cinammon and Munt Edgecombe Plantation where he has set up a weekend retreat for himself. De Savary is of the opinion that the world bypassed Grenada some years ago and so it remains relatively unspoilt by development. This of course may change suggesting that the time is right to visit the island, and with some excellent flight prices from Gatwick to Grenada why not make it sooner rather than later?
