Today’s announcement that British Airways is to introduce direct flights between Leeds Bradford and Heathrow Airport is fantastic news for Leeds and the greater Yorkshire travelling public.
The new daily service provided by BA will operate four times per day and will be a welcome boost for leisure travellers and business people travelling from Leeds Bradford to London and beyond.
The new service, which will commence on 9 December 2012 will be timed to provide connections to worldwide destinations such as Hong Kong, New York, Johannesburg, Singapore and Sydney. This means that Yorkshire travellers can check-in their bags at Leeds Bradford Airport and receive boarding card for their entire journey, eliminating the worry of mixing airlines and missed connections.
British Airways’ director of operations Andy Lord said: “This is a welcome return to Yorkshire for British Airways and we are very excited about flying from this excellent, commercially important airport once again.
“Bmi’s integration into British Airways is enabling us to grow our network as we promised, giving customers more flights to destinations we know they want to fly to. Leeds Bradford has a significant catchment area and we are delighted to offer not only direct flights to London but a well timed schedule that will allow customers from this region to connect with our extensive short haul and long haul flights from Heathrow.”
Flights will be available to purchase later today (27 June) and Conexo Travel look forward to making many bookings for our customers on the new service.
