United Continental Airlines has announced that it intends to launch daily non-stop flights between Manchester and Washington D.C. from May 2 2012 subject to government approval.
United Continental, which has operated a Manchester to New York service for the last 16 years, has stated that the new direct Washington-Manchester flight would cut journey times for passengers and increase the range of options for those travelling beyond its Washington hub.
Flights will leave Manchester daily at noon, and arrive at at Washington Dulles at around 3pm local time the same day. Return flights will leave Washington Dulles daily at 10pm and arrive back at Manchester at 10:20am the next day.
Both this new Washington flight and the New York service are to be operated by Continental Airlines Boeing 757-200 aircraft with 175 seats – with 16 in Business and First and 159 in economy.
For travellers in northern England, this new direct service from Manchester to Washinton Dulles airport provides another great link with the States and will cut down tremendously on journey times.
