Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and is located in the south west of the country, it is the only national capital that borders 2 countries; Hungary and Austria. The airport is 15 minutes away from the city centre.
Popular with tourists is a visit to the Old Town, this is the busiest part of the city. It is full of bars, restaurants and hotels. The Old Town is home to the narrowest house in Slovakia. From the Old Town there are paths that run along the edge of the Danube River, this offers stunning views of the city. A well known attraction is the Bratislava Castle, it was built in 9th century and takes about 10-15 minutes to climb up the hill to the castle. From the top, on a clear day you can see as far as Austria.
UFO is a restaurant is located on top of the Most SNP bridge’s support pylons which is over the Danube River. It serves traditional Slovak dishes and international dishes. On the top of the restaurant there is an observation deck which offers panoramic views of Bratislava. Tripadvisor reviews say it is a great restaurant with an interesting menu, but be sure to book a table before you visit. Slovak Pub is the largest and one of the most popular bars in Bratislava. It is divided into 11 rooms and each one is dedicated to a historical stage in Slovakia’s history. It serves traditional Slovak cuisine and the bar has a farm 25km away which produces some of the products used in the kitchen.
