The town of Haworth, famous home to Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte, is now swarming with tourists and every shop and cafe seems to bear their names or that of one of their famous novels.
This Autumn is going to be a bumper season for Bronte fans with movies of ‘Jane Eyre’ and ‘Wuthering Heights’ on general release and a play about the sisters winning rave reivews.
Key sites for Bronte mania include the house in Thornton, near Bradford, where the Bronte sisters were born, Top Withens, the moorland said to have inspired ‘Wuthering Heights’ and Gawthorpe Hall, near Burnley, which Charlotte used to visit.
The Bronte Parsonage Museum is open every day of the year except December 24-27 and January 3-31 2012.
