The Highlights of Beautiful Brazil
Brazil is the home of the Carnival, great steak, fantastic music, amazing culture, beautiful beaches, lush rainforests, stunning scenery and so much more. I can’t possibly write everything down that makes Brazil such a special destination, but I can give you the highlights, and they are pretty fantastic. What’s even better is how accessible this gorgeous country is to us now, as you can fly direct from London to Rio de Janeiro, and we can create a wonderful tailormade itinerary to suit you.
Rio de Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro was named after a Portuguese explorer mistakenly named the city January River, as he thought Guanabara Bay was the mouth of a river. The beauty of Rio de Janeiro does not stop at the bay, as it is a city located between lush mountains and trees, and lined with beautiful beaches. It is such unique city, making it a great starting point for your trip to Brazil. With great sites to see such as Sugarloaf Mountain, where you can experience breathtaking views of the city, Corcavado where you can see the famous Christ the Redeemer statue, Copacabana Beach and Ipenema Beach. You can enjoy a couple of Caipirinhas, the national cocktail of Brazil, while you watch the locals play football on Copacabana Beach, or you could enjoy some wonderful steak at Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steak house. You will not be short of things to do, or places to eat and drink in this marvellous city.
Iguassu Falls is a series of waterfalls collected on the borders between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, fed by the Iguassu River and located in the Iguassu National Park. There are a total of 275 waterfalls altogether, with an average of 1,500 cubic metres per second rushing over the Parana Plateau. It is one of the most dynamic and awe-inspiring sights in all of South America. You can view the falls from the Brazil side and this gives a more panoramic view of their beauty, whereas on the Argentinian side you can get much closer, and even have a boat ride under the falls!
The Amazon Rainforest
The Amazon is huge area of rainforest and waterways that cover six of Brazil’s states, stretching from its mouth at the Atlantic Ocean, all the way to the Peruvian, Columbian and Bolivian borders. You can stay in some amazing Amazon Lodges and experience nature walks and wildlife boat trips, or meet the local people. For a better change of seeing the wonderful wildlife, you can take a cruise on the Amazon river. The possibilities are endless in this stunning area.
The Brazilian Pantanal is the World’s largest freshwater wetland which straddles the borders of Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia. It is regarded as the best place to spot wild animals in the whole of South America. You can spot Caiman, Howler monkeys, giant otters, anacoda, capybara, ocelot, marmoset, tapir, peccary and if you’re lucky, the jaguar.
The Northeast coast of Brazil is home to some of Brazil’s most dramatic coastline and best beaches. The area is made up of several major cities, each with their own attractions and idyllic resorts hidden up and down the coast. The cities of Recife, Olinda, Sao Luis and Fortaleza have deep colonial heritage with preserved historiccentres and a range of attractions to enjoy. Each one also has their own city beach.
