Two ships to be upgraded for Thomson's Platinum range

Thomson Cruises is set to launch a Platinum Collection of cruises and plan to spend millions refurbishing two of their best performing ships.

Fraser Ellacott, on the first anniversary of his directorship unveiled plans for Thomson Dream and Thomson Celebration following a strategic review.
Thomson’s Platinum Collection include products which have been given a rating of 4T or higher (equivalent to four start or upper premium) and have also been rated good or excellent by 90% of customers.
Ellacott said the ships had been picked because they are their best performing, and that they are looking at making the cruise product mean more to their customers, he added that Thomson Dream and Thomson Celebration would undergo an extensive refurbishment. There are to be new restaurants created, all the staterooms are to receive a makeover with additional features to include flatscreen televisions, tea and coffee making facilities and modern contemporary designs added in the public and private areas. Hoping to grow the cruise and stay market, Ellacott expressed his interest in this growing business.
Thomson Dream will commence its service for the Caribbean programme in 2012 and Thomson Celebration will complete its makeover in 2013.
The new cruise Platinum Collection goes on sale on April 25 with its own dedicated brochure and will also feature alongside complementary product in Thomson’s mainstream brochures.
