A must-do from Phuket. Speed out across the Andaman Sea to the stunning Phi Phi archipelago, visiting the highlights of four islands in one of Thailand's most beautiful national parks.

Swim and snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of Pileh Lagoon, relax on the white sands of Bamboo Island, spot the residents of Monkey Beach and see world-famous Maya Bay, made famous by the film The Beach – with towering limestone cliffs, turquoise water and vibrant marine life all day long.

Complimentary shared transfer to Elephant Hills, Khao Sok

Transfer from Phuket to Khao Sok, catching glimpses of rural life in southern Thailand on the way. Arrive at Elephant Hills in time for a buffet lunch of Thai dishes, cooked not too spicy.

In the afternoon, drift down the Sok River by canoe with a local river guide, passing limestone cliffs draped in tropical vegetation – look out for hornbills overhead and reptiles basking on the riverbanks.

Then step ashore at the elephant park for the Ethical Elephant Experience. Watch Thailand's gentle giants roam, socialise and bathe in a peaceful environment designed around their welfare, and learn about the special bond between the elephants and their mahouts, and the conservation work protecting Asian elephants for future generations.

Return to camp for dinner and your first night in a luxury safari tent, lulled to sleep by the jungle's chorus of insects and frogs.

Wake to birdsong and the morning calls of gibbons echoing down the valley. After breakfast, transfer to the west coast and board a speedboat near Takua Pa to explore a maze of mangrove channels, keeping watch for snakes and a wide variety of birdlife – bring your binoculars.

Board a classic Burmese junk and paddle a canoe up a quiet mangrove creek before lunch is served on board, surrounded by panoramic views of mangroves and banyan trees. Back at camp, unwind with jungle views from your tent, with an evening programme of film, a traditional Thai dance performance by local schoolchildren and a Thai cooking demonstration before dinner beside the rainforest.

Explore Cheow Larn Lake by local longtail boat. Limestone mountains cloaked in rainforest rise straight from the water – scenery often compared to Guilin in China and Halong Bay in Vietnam. The lake stretches over 60km with more than a hundred islands, and few visitors ever see it.

Take a dip in the emerald water (bring your swimwear – towels are provided) and stop at a local raft house for lunch and relaxation. Back at camp, choose your evening: another film, a dance performance, a new Thai dish to learn, the pool – or the hammock.

After breakfast, explore one of the world's oldest rainforests on foot – no survival exercise, just a gentle walk to discover giant hardwood trees, orchids, palms, ferns and bamboo, with hornbills, gibbons, macaques and butterflies all around. Walk slowly, look and listen.

Enjoy a farewell Thai buffet lunch at camp before your onward transfer to Krabi for five nights by the Andaman Sea.
