Itinerary – day by day

Day 1 – UK/Ireland to Oslo

Flight to Oslo • Flytoget train transfer to city centre

Depart from your chosen UK or Ireland airport and fly to Oslo, Norway’s vibrant capital.[page:1]

On arrival, use your included Flytoget train ticket to travel from Oslo Gardermoen airport to the city centre, then check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.[page:1]

Meet‑and‑greet information and your Flytoget voucher are provided before departure.[page:1]

Day 2 – Oslo to Valdres Valley & Geilo Region

Oslo city tour • Approx. 335 km / 6 hours by road

After breakfast, join a guided tour of Oslo with a local guide and tour leader, visiting Frogner Park and its Vigeland sculpture complex, City Hall, the Royal Palace and the modern Opera House.[page:1]

In the afternoon, travel through the lush Valdres Valley towards Geilo, stopping to admire the exterior of the 13th‑century Reinli wooden church (or Torpo Church between September and November).[page:1]

Arrive in Geilo for check‑in, dinner (fixed fish menu) and overnight stay.[page:1]

Day 3 – Geilo, Borgund, Sognefjord & Bergen

Flåm Railway • Nærøyfjord & Aurlandsfjord cruise • Approx. 320 km / 6.5 hours

Travel towards Sognefjord, one of Norway’s most impressive fjords, pausing in the village of Flåm at the foot of a narrow fjord.[page:1]

Enjoy a tour on the famous Flåm Railway, taking in waterfalls, rivers and snow‑capped peaks, followed by free time and an afternoon sailing on the Nærøyfjord and Aurlandsfjord.[page:1]

Later, continue to Bergen for hotel check‑in and overnight stay.[page:1]

Day 4 – Bergen to Stavanger

Guided Bergen tour • Coastal ferries via Halhjem, Føyno & Årsvågen

Begin the day with a guided city tour of Bergen, exploring the Nordnes district, Holberg Port, the New Church, the Witch’s Stone, Sandviken’s white wooden houses, St. Mary’s Church, the Bryggen Museum and the Hanseatic Wharf.[page:1]

In the afternoon, travel along Norway’s southwest coast by land and sea, crossing islands by ferry from Halhjem to Sandvikvåg, passing through the Bømla Submarine Tunnel near Føyno, and continuing by ferry from Årsvågen to Mortavika.[page:1]

Make a stop at the “Sverd i fjell” monument, commemorating the Battle of Hafrsfjord, before arriving in Stavanger for overnight stay.[page:1]

Day 5 – Stavanger, Lysefjord & Åseral

Stavanger walking tour • Optional Lysefjord cruise • Approx. 230 km / 4 hours

Enjoy a guided tour of Stavanger’s historic centre, including a panoramic view over the harbour and ‘Gamle Stavenger’ from the Valbergtårnet viewpoint.[page:1]

Optionally, join a cruise along the Lysefjord to admire waterfalls, dramatic scenery and the famous Pulpit Rock from the water.[page:1]

Afterwards, transfer to Åseral, a renowned ski destination surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, for check‑in, fixed‑menu fish dinner and overnight stay.[page:1]

Day 6 – Åseral, Telemark Region & Oslo

Telemark Canal visit • Heddal Stave Church exterior

Travel east by bus to visit the Telemark Canal, a historic waterway linking Skien and Dalen through impressive locks and scenic landscapes.[page:1]

On arrival in Ulefoss, take a walking tour and, if you wish, add a highly recommended cruise along the canal to Skien, complete with Norwegian cake and coffee or tea.[page:1]

Continue to the exterior of Heddal Stave Church, one of Norway’s most impressive wooden churches, before returning to Oslo for your final night.[page:1]

Day 7 – Oslo to UK/Ireland

Breakfast (where available) • Flytoget train transfer

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel (subject to flight times) before using your included Flytoget train ticket to travel from the city centre to Oslo Gardermoen airport for your return flight to the UK or Ireland.[page:1]

  • Telemark Canal and region visit operates approximately from late May to early October; outside these dates, you travel directly from Åseral to Oslo with extra free time in the city.[page:1]

  • Airport transfers are independent using your included Flytoget tickets between Oslo Gardermoen and the city centre; early‑morning departures before 8 a.m. may use Flybuss services.[page:1]
  • Coaches typically do not have onboard wifi or bathroom facilities, but regular rest stops are made on longer journeys.[page:1]
