Is Costa Adeje right for you?

Costa Adeje suits couples, families and anyone who wants a sunny, well-kept resort with good hotels and an easy-going atmosphere. It is calmer and more upmarket than its neighbour Playa de las Américas, but still has plenty of restaurants, bars and things to do within walking distance.

The seafront is flat and easy to walk, although the resort climbs the hillside behind it, so some properties are uphill from the beach. It is considered a safe resort, and the south of Tenerife is the sunniest and most sheltered side of the island.

Costa Adeje FAQs

Where is Costa Adeje?

Costa Adeje is on the south-west coast of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, just north of Playa de las Américas. It is around 20 minutes by road from Tenerife South airport.

Is Costa Adeje nice?

Yes. It is one of the most popular and best-kept resorts in Tenerife, with golden sand beaches, a long seafront promenade, a wide choice of quality hotels and plenty of restaurants. It is generally calmer and more upmarket than neighbouring Playa de las Américas.

Is Costa Adeje safe?

Costa Adeje is considered a safe resort for families, couples and older travellers. As anywhere busy, keep an eye on your belongings on beaches and in crowded areas.

Is Costa Adeje lively?

It has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with plenty of bars and restaurants, but for late-night clubs most visitors head next door to Playa de las Américas. That balance is a big part of its appeal.

Is Costa Adeje hilly?

The seafront promenade is flat and easy to walk, but the resort rises up the hillside behind the coast. Some properties, especially in Torviscas Alto, are uphill from the beach, so check the location if walking is important to you.

Is Costa Adeje expensive?

It ranges from good-value apartments to some of the island's most luxurious five-star resorts, so there is something for most budgets. Eating out is generally a little dearer than in Las Américas or Los Cristianos.

Is Costa Adeje windy?

The south of Tenerife is the sunniest and most sheltered part of the island, so Costa Adeje has a pleasant breeze rather than strong winds for most of the year.

Costa Adeje or Playa de las Américas, which is better?

Choose Costa Adeje for a calmer, more upmarket stay with smarter hotels. Choose Playa de las Américas if nightlife is a priority. They sit side by side, so you can easily enjoy both.

Costa Adeje or Los Cristianos, which is better?

Los Cristianos is a traditional Spanish town with a harbour and a sheltered beach, popular with families and longer-stay visitors. Costa Adeje has a wider choice of modern and luxury hotels. Both are a short drive apart.

When is the best time to visit Costa Adeje?

Any time of year. Tenerife is known as the island of eternal spring, with warm weather all year round, which makes Costa Adeje one of the most popular winter sun destinations from the UK.
