Post Brexit Passport Rules Causing Travellers Problems

Post Brexit Passport Rules Causing Travellers Problems

Some passengers are being turned away from flights because they have inadvertently breached post-Brexit passport rules for EU travel.

These changes came in as part of the UK's exit from the European Union. The two elements to consider are:

Your passport must be valid for at least three months after your return.

Issued no more than 10 years ago.

Previously UK passport holders visiting EU countries only required passports to be valid up until date of expiry, this has now changed to 3 months.

Additionally, many people when they renewed their passports had the unexpired period of their passport added on to the length of their new passport, this is no longer the case, and destination countries will only recognise passports as being valid if they are within 10 years of their issue date.
